Beachside Community Standards
At Beachside, we believe that
true belonging is built on a foundation of trust, respect, and accountability.
Our Community Standards reflect the values that support our global community
and guide the behavior of both Guests and Hosts. These standards help ensure
that every Beachside experience is safe, fair, authentic, and reliable.
Our core principles—Safety,
Security, Fairness, Authenticity, and Reliability—form the basis of these
standards and are continually reinforced through enforcement and platform
improvements.
1. Safety
A safe environment is essential
to the Beachside experience. Members must not engage in behavior that could
harm themselves or others.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Acts of violence: Physical or sexual assault, abuse,
harassment, domestic violence, robbery, or human trafficking.
- Membership in dangerous organizations, including
terrorist groups, criminal syndicates, or hate-based groups.
- Self-harm or crisis behaviors: We take reports of
suicide, self-injury, eating disorders, and hard drug use seriously and
may intervene to support those at risk.
- Threats: Verbal or physical threats toward others or
oneself may result in immediate action.
- Creating hazardous conditions: Hosting with unsecured
weapons, fire hazards, dangerous animals, or known health risks is
strictly prohibited.
2. Security
Whether you're opening your home
or visiting someone else’s, all members deserve a secure and respectful
environment.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Theft, vandalism, or extortion: Taking or damaging
property, copying keys or IDs, overstaying, or threatening others for
personal gain.
- Fraud and deception: Circumventing Beachside’s
payment system, engaging in credit card fraud or referral abuse, or
submitting false claims.
- Privacy violations: Unauthorized surveillance,
spying, or placing undisclosed cameras (especially in private spaces) is
prohibited.
3. Fairness
Beachside is a community rooted
in inclusion. Fairness is essential to trust and belonging.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Discrimination or hate speech: Treating others
unfairly or using offensive language based on race, ethnicity,
nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or illness.
- Harassment or bullying: Doxxing, blackmail, repeated
unwanted contact, defamation, or any targeted abuse.
- Disrupting local communities: Excessive noise, misuse
of common areas, treating neighbors as staff, or ignoring neighborhood
concerns undermines local trust.
4. Authenticity
Trust starts with honesty.
Members are expected to present themselves, their listings, and their
intentions truthfully.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Misrepresenting identity: Using a false name or
birthdate, operating under multiple accounts, or registering while
underage.
- Misrepresenting listings: Providing false location
data, hiding hazards, misleading with photos, creating fake listings, or
engaging in deceptive pricing or review practices.
5. Reliability
Each Beachside experience relies
on clear expectations and follow-through. Members must be dependable in
communication, presentation, and behavior.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Offering uninhabitable spaces: Accommodations must
meet basic habitability standards, including cleanliness, access to
running water, electricity, stationary lodging, and private restroom
facilities.
- Breaking commitments: Avoid cancellations outside of
policy deadlines, failing to pay, or violating house rules without valid
cause.
- Unresponsiveness: Poor or inconsistent communication,
failure to provide a contact during a stay, or refusal to engage in the
resolution process can result in enforcement actions.
By using Beachside, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a trusted community for all. Violations may result in account suspension or removal, cancellation of bookings, or other enforcement measures consistent with these values.
